Here's a cute conversation between Guitar Daddy and Little Miss Sunshine at bedtime one evening this week. Recorded by Guitar Daddy. I love how children learn about conversational exchange at such a young age. It is so fascinating to me. I thought this was a great conversation and worthy of recording for our journal.
After reading a story, Guitar Daddy looked down into Little Miss Sunshine's eyes.
LMS : You have blue eyes Daddy.
GD: Yes, I do have blue eyes.
LMS: Baby is sleeping (motioning to the baby doll lying in her crib)
GD: Yes, she is.
LMS: I have a lot of buddies in here (looking at several stuffed animals).
GD: You sure do.
LMS: Lambie, Doggy Tail, Woofie, and Pink Doggie.
GD: Good Night Little Miss Sunshine
LMS: I have drink of water Daddy? (with rising intonation)
GD: You want a drink of water?
LMS: Yes.
GD: Ok, I'll be right back.
Following GD return, LMS takes a sip of water.
LMS: That's good water, Daddy.
GD: Yes it is.
LMS: Goodnight.
GD: Goodnight.
Over the intercom GD hears:
LMS: Want some more sips, Daddy.
LMS: Want some more sips, Daddy!!!
GD returns and allows LMS some more sips.
LMS: That's good water Daddy.
GD: Yes, it's yummy water.
LMS: Goodnight.
GD: I'm going to pray, ok.
LMS: Yeah.
Following the prayer, GD leaves the room but is once again interrupted:
LMS: Pointing to the gate in the hallway, "Close the gate for me, Daddy?"
GD closes the gate, "Goodnight LMS"
LMS: Goodnight.
GD begins to leave the room....
LMS: Want another sip of water Daddy.
Following this final sip of water, LMS is off to dreamland.

- From the age of 5, seemingly endless hours were spent in the pool as I swam for New England Swimming/AAU. The smell of chlorine is nostalgic. During life's tough times, I draw on my swimming experiences of discipline, coupled with my faith in Jesus Christ. I spent many years out west for my schooling in speech-language pathology and special education, before returning to NE to teach. Although I have a passion for teaching young children with special needs, I currently am at home with my own 2 sweet girls, both of whom have sensorineural hearing loss and are the greatest gifts in my life.

Sweet little moments. Sometimes I am frustrated at bedtime because I am tired and done with my day, but really I should be so grateful that the kids want to have one more kiss or cuddle. I am not sure how many more years I will get that!
Thanks for this glimpse into your sweet family life!
Oh to be able to put a little one to bed again......
That's so cute! I love little ones, and their attempts to stay up just a little bit longer!
cute dialogue. I'm sure I would have been whisper yelling halfway through (its definitely one of my faults). So glad to hear she finally went to sleep.
i cna only imagine how long she'd have prolonged it with you!!
