Pupetta had he first success on the potty this past week! She actually told me she needed to do "poo poos" and she asked to sit on the big potty. Right away she earned a coveted Abby Cadabby sticker and a Starburst. Later that morning, we headed over to Hannafords and purchased mini marshmallows. This would be the perfect potty treat for her as she LOVES marshmallows. (Grandma keeps a stash for her at her house.) Naturally, she now has no interest in sitting on the potty again, but she will in time. I learned from my first time around with Little Miss Sunshine to be low key about it. My approach was over the top behavioralistic and it included taking data just like a true special educator. Too much pressure!!!!! (on both of us). So, I have told myself to just let it unfold and in time it will all work out.

- From the age of 5, seemingly endless hours were spent in the pool as I swam for New England Swimming/AAU. The smell of chlorine is nostalgic. During life's tough times, I draw on my swimming experiences of discipline, coupled with my faith in Jesus Christ. I spent many years out west for my schooling in speech-language pathology and special education, before returning to NE to teach. Although I have a passion for teaching young children with special needs, I currently am at home with my own 2 sweet girls, both of whom have sensorineural hearing loss and are the greatest gifts in my life.

It's Potty Time!!!!!

I learned with mine that they will not be potty trained until THEY are ready, so good for you!
